Alfonso "Poncho" Richard Sotomayor Sr., 78 of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2022 peacefully in his sleep. He was born October 5, 1944 in Mesa, Arizona to Benjamin and Flora Sotomayor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Ben Sotomayor Jr., Freddy Sotomayor, Charlie Sotomayor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra Sotomayor; 5 children, Al Sotomayor Jr. & Tammie, Cassy Sotomayor, Ben Sotomayor & Rachelle, Kim Bench & Mike, Jacob Sotomayor & Courtney;11 grandchildren, Amy Sotomayor, Amber Harmon, Zac (Aaron) Sotomayor, Allison Sosa, Alex Sotomayor, Angel Bench, Alexa Turner, Ariel Bench, Abba Savage, Austin Sotomayor, Axl Sotomayor; 12 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Caleigh, Bryce, Kellin, Justice, Brantley, Owen, Lincoln, Grayson, Jericho, Harley, Liam; 5 siblings, Francis Ortiz & Corny, Bobby Sotomayor & Flora, Jesse Sotomayor, Mary Dice & Eddy, Lupe Sands; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Poncho liked to play guitar, dance, cook and spend time with his family. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and bowling. He was a very loving father and Pawpaw. He never met a stranger.
His visitation will be 4-6pm Friday, December 9th, 2022 at Russellville Family Funeral. A Celebration of Life will follow at 6:30pm at Lake Hills Banquet Hall 1505 Marina Road Russellville, AR 72802 officiated by Dee Stone. Arrangements are under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral.
