Ann McCorkle

Ann McCorkle, 68, of Russellville, Arkansas passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, October 15, while surrounded by members of her family. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Jean and Braxton Bragg of Camden, Arkansas. She leaves a husband, Joe “Corky” McCorkle, and a daughter, Katherine Jean.

Ann was born in Malvern and was raised in Camden, Arkansas. She graduated from Camden High School and from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville – earning a BSE in Special Education.

She served 32 years as a Special Education teacher in the State of Arkansas. She taught in Hot Springs and North Little Rock, before assuming a job as a special education teacher in the Russellville Public School System. She was a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association and the Arkansas Education Association.

In October of 1990, she married Corky. They had a daughter, Katherine Jean, the following year. The two were married for 31 years.

Ann was a wonderful wife, teacher, and mother who enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, and teaching Sunday school. An avid collector of antiques, she maintained a rare collection of ceramics and pottery from the late 19th Century Staffordshire, England.

Services will be conducted at 2:00pm, Friday October 22, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Russellville. Burial will be conducted following the service at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville. Under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to All Saints’ Episcopal Church of Russellville, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Visitation will be conducted from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Thursday, October 21 at Russellville Family Funeral Home in Russellville, Arkansas.
