Boyd Ray Burton

May 16, 1940 — May 22, 2021

     Boyd Ray Burton, 81, of Charleston, Arkansas, passed away with his family present, Saturday, May 22nd, 2021 in his home.  He was born May 16, 1940, in Branch, Arkansas to Glen D. And Louis Hall Burton.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and Deacon Emeritus of Charleston, First Baptist Church.  He worked as a truck driver, and retired after 30 years, with AFCO Metals in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Don Burton and Mother-in-Law Lerlene Bickers, and niece Theresa Burton.  
     
     He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Heddy Bickers Burton, daughter Kimberly Sharp (husband John), son David Ray Burton(wife Renee), four Grandchildren, Jennifer, Tyler, Paige and Derek, Step Grandson Jason, six Great Grandchildren, Logan, Ashton, Allyson, LeighAnn, Kolton and Blakey.  Two sisters, Velma Mealer of Arkoma, Oklahoma, Carolyn Hurt(husband Kenny) of Branch, Arkansas, four Nieces and Nephews, Tammy  Bartmier(Burton), Kenton Hurt, Lisa Freeman (Hurt) and Michael Mealer and lots of cousins and friends.

     Service will be at 12 Noon Tuesday May 25, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Charleston, Arkansas, with Brother Larry Horne and Brother Artie Hudson officiating.  Interment will be at the US National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Service and interment will be under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral.  

Visitation will 10AM until service time Tuesday May 25, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Charleston, Arkansas.  

Pallbearers will be Kenton Hurt, Michael Mealer, Keith Hurt, Tyler McDonald, Derek Burton, and Logan Burton. 

 Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Hurt, Donnie Hall, Joe Bickers and John Sharp.
