DeAnna S. Gallagher passed away Sunday evening September 8, 2024 at her home in Augsburg. She went to be with her Lord and Savior with her husband John and friends Joe and Jan Grant near her.
She was born August 28th 1953 in Little Rock, Arkansas but most of her early years were in Hot Springs.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years John Gallagher, her son John Daniel Gallagher and a daughter Ashley Diane Gallagher.
She is also survived by her mother Frances Hampton of Searcy, three sisters, Debbie Walsh and husband Ben, Donna Herron and her husband Junior, Tammy Cross and husband Randy, and a brother, Tony Yates.
She also is survived by many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grandnieces whom she dearly loved as if they were her own children.
She is preceded in death by her father Billy Guy Thompson, and stepfathers Don Yates and Jack Hampton. Also, her grandmother Grace Richardson and grandfather W.J. Richardson.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Russellville for over 30 years. She taught children’s Sunday School for many years with her dear friend Martha Paine. She loved teaching the Bible to the children of the church and loved them very much.
She was retired from St. Mary’s Hospital where she worked as assistant director of Medical Records for 25 years.
She graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1971 and from Arkansas Tech in 1975 with a BA in Sociology and again in 1977 with a BS in Medical Records Administration.
She met the love of her life, John while attending Arkansas Tech and they were married April 15th 1978.
After her retirement in 2013 she enjoyed attending her church, traveling, tending her roses, flower beds and gardening with John growing vegetables. She studied her Bible every day and in last few years discussing the Bible with her husband John. She also enjoyed riding around in the mountains in her and John’s ORV and taking in the beauty of the Ozark Mountains with neighbors and close friends Joe and Jan Grant. They shared many wonderful days in those mountains.
She was very strong in her Christian faith even into her last minutes on earth. As she fought her battle with cancer early in this fight, she selected the following bible passage to sum up her faith and her hope for peace with her situation. She and John read and shared this passage almost daily and John read it to her the morning of the day she passed away:
Romans 15:13” Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
DeAnna went to be with God after a short but very painful battle with cancer. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Cancer Society to search for a cure for mesothelioma.
Her memorial service will be 11am, Friday, September 13, 2024 at Second Baptist Church, 1100 North Frankfort Ave, Russellville, AR 72801. Pastor Chris Russell and Pastor Jonathan Whitlock will officiate.
