Floyd Hughes

Floyd Hayes Hughes of Russellville passed away October 5th, 2024, surrounded by his family. 

Floyd was born 10/31/1954 to Joe and Emma Hughes of Pope County. Floyd was the second youngest of 7 children. 

On April 9th, 1978, he married the love of his life, Mary Louise Royer. Floyd and Mary had 5 children. 

Floyd is preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter. 

Floyd is survived by his wife, Mary Hughes; his brother, JD Hughes; his sisters, Linda Martin, Becky Redell, Rita Farris and Helen Warnick; his children: daughter, Mary Hughes and grandson Joshua Phillips; son, Jay Hughes, wife Carnetta and grandchildren Jared and Jessica Murphy, Haley Shelnut, Elizabeth Palmer, and Brandon Bearden; daughter, Brenda Butler, husband Kim and grandchildren Tiffany Beck and Kyle Butler; daughter, Glenda Demmitt, husband Dean and grandchildren Yancey, Shelton and Clayton Demitt; son, James Hughes, wife Jeanae and grandchildren Megan and Kindle Hughes. Floyd has 19 great-grandchildren and numerous others that he was a father figure to over the years. 

Floyd will be remembered by those who knew him as a strong family man who always put those that he loved before himself. He looked out for the "little guy" and wasn't scared to share what he thought. To the family, he will forever be "Poppa." 

Visitation for Floyd will be 5-7pm Tuesday, October 8th at Russellville Family Funeral Chapel. Graveside funeral Service will be 10am Wednesday October 9th at East Point Cemetery in London.
