Gregory Myers

December 25, 1962 — August 12, 2024

Pottsville

Gregory Rex Myers, 61, of Pottsville, entered his Heavenly home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born December 25, 1962, in Russellville to Rex and Maryellen Myers.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rex Myers. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Sue Ann (Stock); his daughter, Katie Myers (Moriah); his mother, Maryellen Myers; sisters Terri Myers and Debbie GoBell (Jamie); and his most favorite, his granddaughters, Brooke and Aubrey Claire Myers. He is survived by several Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends.

In 1981, Greg graduated from Russellville High School and joined the Army National Guard. He was a member of the 239th Engineering Company. He was a truck driver and ironically, color blind. After being honorably discharged in 1988, Greg became a painter and quickly became known as the “best painter in town”. Greg was known to be a kind and generous soul. He often picked up strangers and made it a point to hire people in need. He enjoyed designing and building trails for his granddaughters. He made it a point to attend every single event. If he wasn’t on the sidelines, he was at the concession stand spending entirely too much money on his granddaughters. He loved tending to his rose bushes and pecan trees that he planted with his granddaughters. He thoroughly enjoyed watching hummingbirds. He had a mischievous grin and enjoyed being a prankster. He really enjoyed telling people he was born on Christmas and that his mother’s name is Mary. Although he was a quiet man, he impacted the world and his loved ones profoundly.

His visitation will take place Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 1:00-2:00 at Russellville Family Funeral. His Life Celebration/Graveside service will immediately follow in a procession and begin at 2:30, at Old Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral. Full military honors will follow the celebration of his life.

In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that you find time to enjoy the little things in life, love hard, speak to strangers, help those in need, plant a pecan tree, listen to music, read a book, take time to smell the roses, and enjoy life wholeheartedly.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Jamie GoBell, Robert Myers, David W. Myers, Justin Myers, Robert Steele and Kris Lea. Honorary pallbearers are James Myers, David M. Myers, Tony Cohn, Ronnie Savage, and Ralph Solis.
