Jerry Steve Tanner

Jerry Steve Tanner, 69 of Atkins, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 21, 2022 at his home.  He was born December 28, 1952 in Van Buren, Arkansas to James and Opal Hillman Tanner.  He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Paul David Carpenter.

Steve was a US Veteran of the Army National Guard and a member of Atkins First Assembly of God Church.  Steve had the honor of coaching his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless others during his 24 years of high school basketball coaching.  

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Deanne Tanner; daughters, Cresha Sweeden and husband Tim of Atkins, Cristi Carpenter of Atkins; son, Keith Tanner and wife Brandie of Russellville; grandchildren, Michael Perry & wife Hannah, Cora Carpenter, Joshua Carpenter, Tawnie Sweeden, Tate Sweeden, Braden Tanner, Stevie Tanner, Sammie Tanner, Bryant Tanner; great grandchildren, Ellis Perry and Kobie Perry, brother, James Harold Tanner of Fort Smith, Dee Roy Tanner and wife Shirley of Missouri, sister, JoAnn Spencer and husband Herb of Lincoln, Arkansas, as well as several other beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends. 

His visitation will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Atkins First Assembly of God Church, 208 Ave 8 NE., Atkins, AR 72823, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00am, following the visitation. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Atkins, under the direction of Russellville Family Funeral. 

Pallbearers will be Jamie Tanner, Zane Tanner, Blake Tanner, Alex Keck, Greg Tramel, Coach Jeff Haralson and Coach Matt Lee.
