Wes Honnell, 29 of Russellville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 30th. He was born February 13, 1992 in Camden, Arkansas to Paul Honnell and Leigh Thomason Honnell. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry Thomason and Billy Mack Honnell.
Wes was a loving, devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. From a very young age, he had a peaceful, gentle spirit and wisdom beyond his years. He loved serving others through his many talents. He enjoyed working with his hands. He built his own CNC machine and used it to make gifts for family members, for Gateway, and for others. He also built a 1972 Dart with his dad, sister, and Papaw Billy Mack throughout his teenage years. He enjoyed drag racing his Dart.
Wes devoted many hours to working on projects at churches he attended over the years. He helped build Cullendale Assembly of God’s new sanctuary in 2008. Since coming to Gateway, Wes has designed and programmed the live stream, hung new lights throughout the sanctuary, and did countless other projects. He was also the band leader for the Gateway worship team as the lead guitar player.
Wes enjoyed his job as a Senior Reactor Operator at Arkansas Nuclear One. He finished license class in 2020 becoming one of only a few thousand licensed SROs in the country. He was a valued member of U1 Crew Delta, where he was the STA.
Wes enjoyed fishing with the kids, riding four wheelers, canoeing, hiking, and camping. He loved traveling with Jessica and the kids. He also loved finding “treasures” on Facebook marketplace and traveling hundreds of miles to pick them up.
Wes will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. He impacted lives even in death, as he donated his organs so that others may live.
Wes is survived by his wife of 8 1/2 years, Jessica, their three children, Lexi, Lincoln, and Livi, his parents, Paul Honnell and Shannon and Leigh Honnell and Chris; his sister, Lauren Reed and Jack; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Teresa Vinson; brother-in-law, Jered and Ashley Vinson; grandparents, Ann Thomason, Stuart and Sue Rogers, Joyce Honnell, great-grandmother, Roe Kirkland; aunt, Julie Thomason, nieces and nephews, Braden Derrick Jailynn Vinson, Josie Vinson; cousin, Cooper Thomason, as well as several other family and friends.
